GCA award winners announced for Midlands area
MEMBERS of the Garden Centre Association (GCA) yesterday (Wednesday, July 25, 2018) received awards for the Midlands region at a presentation hosted by Brookfields Garden Centre.
Bridgford Garden Centre was awarded Garden Centre of the Year in the Garden Centre (GC) category and Webbs of Wychbold picked up the accolade in the Destination Garden Centre (DGC) category.
Mike Lind, GCA Chairman, said: “A great night was had by all in attendance at our penultimate regional awards evening and the awards are testament to the dedication, hard work and effort put in by all of the garden centre teams.
“A big ‘thank you’ goes to Brookfields Garden Centre for hosting the shindig and to Inspector Roger Crookes, who presented his findings on the night.
“We will now have a break until our last regional awards meeting for the Scotland and Northern Ireland members on Wednesday, August 29 at Simpsons Garden Centre, Inverness, but we have enjoyed a fantastic and inspirational few weeks of meetings around the country. We are now looking forward to seeing all our members put into practice the advice they took from our inspector’s presentations.”

Customer Service Award for Best Customer Service: Webbs of Wychbold
Environment and Community Award: Planters Garden Centre – Tamworth
The Barton Grange Trophy for Innovation and Creativity: Bridgford Garden Centre
The Dick Allen Award for Most Improved Centre: Bridgford Garden Centre
The ifse Award for Catering Excellence for Best Garden Centre Restaurant: Bridgford Garden Centre (GC) and Planters Garden Centre – Tamworth (DGC)
The GIMA Award for Best Garden Products Retailer: Bridgford Garden Centre (GC) and Planters Garden Centre – Tamworth (DGC)
Best Indoor Lifestyle Retailer: Bridgford Garden Centre (GC) and Derby Garden Centre (DGC)
Best Outdoor Living Retailer: Stratford Garden Centre (GC) and Webbs, Wychbold (DGC)
