Jobs to do in the garden in September part 2 – look after your lawn
The days of luscious green lawns are quickly coming to an end. You can begin to mow the lawn less frequently now and give it a good autumn feed to help build up grass roots for the winter.
You can begin sowing and creating new lawns this month too or scarify and aerate any established lawns to improve drainage.
You can do this by using a garden fork to make holes around 10cms in depth and spaced around 10-15cms apart.
This will help protect the exposed grass roots from penetrating frosts which could start as early as next month.
