Another fantastic booking for our 2020 conference was Former BBC Chief News Correspondent Kate Adie CBE.
As the BBC’s Chief News Correspondent, Kate covered the Gulf War, the demise of the Soviet Union, the protests in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square and NATO’s campaign in Kosovo.
She began her career as a technician in radio before being promoted to producer, specialising in arts and farming programmes.
She then switched to television, directing religious outside broadcasts and sport and reporting for BBC Plymouth. Next came network news, before making her reputation reporting from war zones across the world.
Kate knows a thing or two when it comes to finding a good story and she was happy to share some of her secrets with our conference attendees.
She said, ‘wherever you go, it’s the people who are interesting’ and that a good story both entertains and informs.
Facts are also the basis of all good news stories, said Kate.
This was helpful information for them to take away to help them get their garden centres ‘out there’ to the media.
