Members who were unable to attend our recent annual conference are now able to view presentations from our Rising Stars finalists.
The seven finalists took part in a series of workshops before presenting at our conference at the end of January. Their presentations are now available to view at https://gca.org.uk/powerpoint/risingstars-presentation.pptx
Seven finalists
Matt Carr and Vicky Taylor from Barton Grange Garden Centre, Louise Oates from Bents Garden & Home, Jennifer Ind from Webbs of Wychbold, Mia Crawford from Poundbury Gardens, Ella May Bradshaw from Bosworths Garden Centre and Pip Bransfield-Garth from Ruxley Manor Garden Centre were all selected as finalists in our Rising Stars programme, sponsored by Westland Horticulture and mentored by our Inspector, Gordon Emslie.
Series of workshops
Throughout 2022 they took part in a series of workshops on environmental and sustainability within gardening and undertook projects within their own garden centres to show what they had learnt.
They then went on to present at our conference and share with the audience how the Rising Stars programme helped them develop.
Our conference delegates selected the winner, which was Ella May Bradshaw from Bosworths Garden Centre and now all of the finalists’ presentations are available for people to view.
Interesting and thought-provoking
All of the presentations are interesting and thought-provoking and give people a great insight into the next generation of horticulturalists, so we would urge people to take a look at them. Garden centres can also use the finalists’ ideas and trial them within their own centres with confirmed sales benefits.
